Santa Cruz County Alliance for Arts Education

Advocacy Breakfast: Unmasking Creativity

On Thursday, October 31st, we will be celebrating our inaugural year’s successes and presenting a newly developed action plan, and our new mission: to advocate for arts education for all students in every school community in Santa Cruz County, and to participate in a discussion on the importance of the arts in education.

The Santa Cruz County Alliance for Arts Education is an advocacy network, working under the auspices of the California Alliance for Arts Education. We are a passionate and growing group of volunteer educators, business people, artists, parents, and those who believe that the arts are core to education.

The agenda features an appearance by the Soquel Elementary School Chorus and an address by Susan Freeman (Arts Education Consultant and Lecturer, Stanford Graduate School of Education) on the connections between the arts and the new Common Core State Standards.

This event offers an important opportunity to bring community leaders together to strengthen support for arts education and build a sustainable local Alliance for Arts Education. Your voice will be a valuable asset in the discussion.
