    Innovative Strategies for Local Advocacy

    No sooner did we finish writing a handbook for our Local Advocacy Network (affectionately named the LANBook), then new challenges emerged from the work being done on the ground.

    Contributing to our Mission

    One of our missions is to "make the compelling case for arts education."  Elliot Eisner, (Professor Emeritus, Stanford) contributes to the case through his "10 Lessons The Arts Teach".

    1. The arts teach children to make good judgments about qualitative relationships.
    Unlike much of the curriculum in which correct answers and rules prevail, in the arts, it
    is judgment rather than rules that prevail.

    The Stanislaus County Alliance Vision and Mission Statement

    The Stanislaus Alliance Vision and Mission Statement:

    Through informed and intelligent decision making by educators, and involvement and assistance from the community at large, quality arts education in Stanislaus County schools will be an essential part of every student's educational experience.

    The Stanislaus County Alliance for Arts Education will

    •  make the compelling case for arts education to policy and decision makers, educators, parents, and the public at large;

    Art Education Impacts 21st Century Workforce

    Supported by a grant from the National Art Education Foundation, a nationwide research study, NCLB: A Study of Its Impact on Art Education Programs by F. Robert Sabol, Ph.D., Purdue University, highlights the impact of No Child Left Behind on visual art education. The study takes stock of the current state of arts education and how it fosters innovation and creative skills that prepare students for the 21st century workforce.
