Kennedy Center National School Boards Association 2012 National-Level Award
The Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network (KCAAEN) and the National School Boards Association (NSBA) are pleased to recognize a local School Board for outstanding support of the arts in education. The $10,000 award is presented to a School Board that has demonstrated support for and commitment to high-quality arts education including all four major artistic disciplines - visual arts, music, theater and dance - in their programs.
The award program involves one school board per state that comprises the maximum national pool of nominees. Final selection is made by a national panel of arts educators and arts administrators including representatives of the KCAAEN and NSBA. The national award is presented every year at the annual national conference of the NSBA. School boards in every U.S. state are eligible for nomination regardless of whether their state has a State Alliance.
All applications for the national Award must be submitted by a State Alliance for Arts Education, a State School Boards Association, or through a joint submission from both of these organizations. Nominations for California school boards should be submitted to the California Alliance by November 20, 2011.
